Special Event Application

Pursuant to Juab County Code 9-4-1 through 9-4-18, a permit and a business license (including a temporary business license) is required to a hold a Special Event.  A Special Event is defined as any sporting, cultural, entertainment, commercial, or similar gathering, whether or not for profit, whether or not open to the public, occurring for a fixed duration of fourteen (14) days or less and where one or more of the following is present:  (1) Daily total attendance may exceed one hundred (100) people; (2) the Juab County Commission determines that the proposed event will result in a measurable impact to county services or the health, welfare or safety of citizens; or (3) the event required the full or partial closure of a public right of way or use of public property.
 
A permit is not required for the following: 
  • a wedding, family reunion, funeral, neighborhood block parties, garage sales, conferences, and similar events held in a permitted permanent facility, unless a road is closed, traffic is impeded, or public safety is threatened.
  • Events organized by registered political parties, established religious organizations, private and public school entities, unless the event utilizes a public road.
  • Events where the County, a municipality within the County, school district or other government entity, or established religious organization, is the primary sponsor.
  • Events held at or on Juab County owned properties.  However, applicants must follow other licensing requirements as set forth in law and must sign and comply with the Juab County Facilities lease agreement. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Juab County Commission may require a Special Events Permit for any event to be held at or on Juab county properties when the event: (1) significantly impacts county services, including but not limited to EMS, law enforcement, traffic control, or litter control; (2) presents a considerable risk to the health, safety, and welfare of any persons, including overcrowding, personal privacy; or noice; or (3) presents unbudgeted fiscal impacts upon the county in terms of staff time, public resources, or similar fiscal impacts
County Code requires this application, together with the application fee and other fees, be submitted at least ninety (90) days before the first date of the Special Event.
